WOMEN AFTER VOTE IN SOUTH Little Sucre in Argentina To- ward Getting Franchise Extension BUBNOfl AtRBS, Jan. 10 The women of Argentina thus far have met with latle succew in their efforts to obtain the political franchise, notwithstanding the active campaign they hate been conducting. They have toe support of the Socialist Party, which several years ago introduced a measure in parUainent granting universal franchise to the women of the country. The bill was refer red to a committee, which failed to act on it. There are two provinces. however. In a ahlch women bare won the right to participate In provincial elections Ban Juan and atenooca. In the former the franchise Includes both legislative and municipal elections; in the latter It applies only to municipal el ret tons. There Is a feminist party in Argentina. he leader of which Is Jollete Lanterl tienshaw. She was the party only can didate at several municipal elections In Buenos Aires, but failed to receive enough votes for election. The woman vote has shown an evident decrease at every new election, and that apparently ha been the cause of diminishing activity the women have shown of late. On the other hand the women of Braall seem to be making remarkable headway in their campaign for the fran chise. It Is reported that they have obtained the right to vote in the state of Rio Orande de Norte and will take part in the forthcoming state election. It to announced that a Mil eoneedtne. the national vote to women is expected to be presented in the Federal Senate. Meanwhile the Brazilian wumen are car rying on tn active campaign.
