S. (Duke) Harris, well known nloneer Hazelton mining man, made formtil announcement that the Federal Mining A Smelting Co. Ltd. had obtained control of the well known Mohawk mine on Four Mile Mountain near New Hazelton. The formal taking over will occur on Monday between the Harris Bros., as vendors of the controlling stock, and Thomas D. Lewis, consulting engineer for the Federal Co. who arrived from the south with Mr. Harris. Al. Harris will take charge of an energetic campaign of development work which will be inaugurated and which, it is expected, will make a real mine of the Mohawk. The Mohawk, in which Edward G. Brown of Vancouver has been extensively interested, is a promising property which has been commanding considerable attention of late. Three tons of high grade ore, averaging $126, is now being shipped per day.
