On the prairies they zougni iron oy sowing a wneat that ripened early. They fought rust by treating their seed. They fought drought by methods of cultivation. In many places we find them afflicted by storm and flood or else the burning sua dries up their very life blood. In Prince Rupert we have our own Httte fight. We have to build our streets under difficulties such as no other city in British Columbia aad possibly in Canada have to overcome. We sometimes have more rain than we need and have to adapt ourselves to the condition. The clever community is the one that can use the forces of nature. Here we may well use the waterfalls in developing power with which to build up our iadaetries. We have no drought here and do not often fear the ravages of fire. In some parts of the south the desert has been made to bloom by Irrigation. On the whole we are well placed here. We have no noxious insect or reptiles and if sometimes the days sre dull, we must make up for it by taking part in games and sports and overcoming the depression by using our minds and bodies well.
