The people have expressed their viewg and it would be most foolish It is only people who travel who realize the real value of courtesy as an asset to a community. When visitors come to town they form their opinion very largely from the people they meet. If they find local people ready to give information and answer question in a friendly manner they at once form a good impression of the place. There is nothing to be lost by being friendly with strangers In some parts of France an English visitor can always find help from the natives. They will walk a block or two In order to show a place or to find something that the visitor needs. Their courtesy is the subject of mention of all visitors. It is a great business getter People like to return where they are treated well. Prince Rupert i8 a city that is struggling for a place in the sun. Every jmrspn can help Jn making it attractive, not only in beautifying meir iiiucus uui in uxienuing me greatest poseime courtesy to visitors, whether strangers or not. It is not suggested here that Prince Rupert people are ever dis courteous- A person may be courteous and yt not help visitors much. Whrit is meant a that an interest may be taken fn visitors and that there opportunity offers a little time be devoted to mak ing their visit to the city pleasant. The population is not very large but it is larger than it seems to be, On ;he wet there is the Queen Charlotte Islands, a country in itself. Northward are the mining towhs of Anyox, Alice Arm and Stewart as well as a number of minor camps, with still farther in the same direction the districts of Atlin and Cassiar. Eastward is the country traversed by the 'Canadian National Railways to JIcBride including a numberoT -towns of considerable si?e and a big farming community, and a great many mining camps- To the south there is not as much, the scattered settlements and logging camps being practically everything there is this side of Butedale. Through all this large district the Daily News circulates. Sometimes a gingle copy is read by twenty or thirty people. It is looked upon by these people as their local daily paper. It is this district circulation as well a its commanding position in the city that gives the News its pulling power as an advertising medium.
