FRUITS ARE ON LOCAL MARKET Fresh Vegetables also Plentiful; Tondency of Meats to Sell at Lower Prices On the local market this week there is a marked influx of fresh fruils and vegetables. Specially good is it to see the fine up-river strawberries which always delight those who try them. They are not arriving in very large quantities so far but by the beginning of the week larger shipments are ex- pected. The greens arriving from the south are in good condition, but the fruit is hardly cheap en- ough yet for preserving. Apples are off the market fo: the present but the new ones are expected in soon. The new pota- toes although a little high in price are rapidly being bought up by the consumers, There are no great changes in price along the more staple line of goods. On the whole the meat prices are falling which may encourage a return to beef, o Pak EONS BEL A, Te Se GUARD AGAINST FIRE as fish still remains at the same level, Moats PREPARATIONS wreeeens GUUOR «ii cvccctdiads 50c Beef, pot roasts, lb ..25¢ to 28¢ Beef, chuck roast, Ib........30¢ FOR BIG PICNIC Beef, rib roast, Ib ......666 88 Beef, boiling, Ib .. ..22¢ to 25c¢ t Hamburger, 2 Ib for........ 55¢|Monster Event to Take Place at Stewing beef, per Ib ...30¢ Digby Island TomoFrow. eS ae reer as 45c¢ eee I OE es oP fed chs 50c All the preliminary arrange- A li a 35c| ments have been made for the} Pork sausages ........... 30c,|Merehants’ pienie to be held to- Yomato sausages ......... 35¢e,| morrow at Digby Island when the OO SS ie ee 45c|Clerks and the public will be the} WON MI oo oss hs indeed 55c|#uests of the Retail Merchants’ POFR, GHOUIES, «2s ss 5 0,0 0 40c |Association.
