In the first place, Louise Dresser in the role of the exacting mother, gives a stunning performance. Next, Madge Bellamy . . . acquits herself admirably. Both women have splendid acting parts and both indeed make the most of their roles. Bar y Norton is the young man who supplies the love interest, and he is capable. . . . During the story' action. Miss Bellamy gives several imitations. These are in the talking sequence, and, to say the actress acquits herself nicely, U putting it mildly. Madge does lla.ry Lauder, Al Jolson and Anna Held so cleverly that she won the spontaneous applause of the ; audience. The picture has plenty of backstage atmosphere, whlh in Jways interesting, and .discloses an alt-revealing side of the life of a famous star. . . . It is well worth seeing.
