Empire free trade is an ideal but it is quite impracticable in the opinion of Rt. Hon. L C MS. Amery, who arrived on the Empress of Australia yesterday en route to the Rockies. "I am absolutely in favor of closer commercial relations among constituent parts of the Empire," Mr. Amery said. "Nevertheless, I fee! that the slogan of free trade will not accomplish the purpose desired . " Rt Hon. Winston Churchill also arrived. He said: "So long as the Labor Government refrains from doing those things which they promised to do, there will be no objection to their holding office, but they must forget all the silly nonsense they have been talking for the past several years." Mr. Churchill would not comment on Mr. .Snowden's attitude at the reparations conference, but made it clear that Mr Snowden's stand had his own support. Apportionments under the former Dawes plan had been satisfactory, but those now projected were, totally inadequate, he said.
