BANQUET GIVEN FOR VISITORS TO CONVENTION (Continued From Page 1) m rrrt -t1 New President Speaks In accepting the presidency, fol lowing his installation, Mr. Johnson mentioned particularly the good work being done at the fisheries experimental station. One of the first things they found out was that the ice they, had been using was full of bugs. However, they were not harmful bugs, only they discolored the fish. It was planned to benefit by the informa tion and make the ice pure. He felt it a great honor to Prince Rupert and to his company that he should be elected president. Mayor McMordie made a neat speech in responding to the toast to Prince Rupert . He prophesied great things for tbe city of Prince Rupert in the not farditant fu ture. AH the wealth of the ocean was hers. An immense business should be developed from the fisheries, and the product of the forests and mines and in the development of the hinterland. He expected Prince Rupert would become a city of which all would be proud. "As Canadians, we are proud of our country, as British Columbians we are proud of our province, and as citizens of Prince Rupert we are proud of our city," he concluded. Hon. S. L. Howe, enthused over tbe reception he had been given in the city, spoke humorously of the weather which he had pro duced for the district recently He spoke of the fisheries briefly and said he had been meeting the fishermen and cannerymen an A nflisra and fnmiHartrintr him- ... ,, J.
