AT CAPITOL "Charleston" Wright, Classy Step-Dancer Rooked For ' One Week Commen- cing Tonight Tonight's bill of entertainment at (he Capitol will provide plenty of variation for in addition to RafjjMU'fl Denny's new super picture "Rett Hot Speed" and Ray Southard, "The Wandering Minstrel," Manager Art Easson hat booked a very clever step-dancer in the person of "Charleston" Wright who comes highly recommended from the Capitol Theatre, Winnipeg. "Charleston" is aa black as the Ace of Spades bat he's "red-hot" when it comes to moving 'em feet around. "Charleston" calls himself "The Dark Cloud of Joy," which is just about right because he moves everything but his smile which won't wear off. Ray Southard, the other "black" man on the bill announces that he will sing tonight, "Ida, She's Sweet as Apple Cider" and "Lamb, Lamb. Lamb." FORMER RUPERT MAN IS VERY MYSTERIOUS r An Eastern newspaper has the following in a recent number: "A mjKStwious Canadian has been 'frwt' at Meseritz, on the Polish fHfhtier, on the extraor-, dinary charge of trying to defraud an insurance company by putting' tfcree bullets into his own body' and pretending that; his wounds were the result of in attack by robbers. This man, who calls ! himself Kekof f, was sentenced to a year's imprisonment. A remarkable feature of, the case was that one of the wounds if self-inflicted, could, have been (caused only by an ex- j perl contortionist. But among , the many diverse callings said toj have been ' practiced by the defendant is that of an 'Indiarub-1 oer man'." Week-End Specials SWIFT'S PICNIC HAM Average 51,. lhs. Without a doubt, "Red Hot Speed," atarriug Reginald Denny, ,at the Capitol Theatre tonight, is the funniest thing Carl Laem-mle's favorite comedian has tur- jned out for many months. The Idea of the picture is ingenious and entirely new for the screen. It's such an obviously clever idea that it's a wonder it hasn't been done before. The story concerns the misadventures of a young assistant district attorney attached to the speeder's court. He gets into trouble as a result of his public denunciation of a beautiful young speeder. The judge, possessed of s rare judicial sense of humor, paroles the young lad in his custody. There are lots of reasons why she doesn't want her father, a newspaper editor, to know that she was arrested, so she gives a false name. Web, anyway, that gives you the idea around which Director Joseph Henabery has constructed a delightful romantic furce comedy. RegirnJd Denny is perfect in the part and Alice Day, as the youthful speeder, adds greatly to the attractiveness and humor of the photoplay.
