The Kenneth group of seven claims near the head of the south fork of Glacier Creek at Stewart has been bonded by Clay Porter from the owners. H. P. Gibson and Louis Legge. The Kenneth was formerly known as the Mobile property, having been developed in a -nanner in 1920 by the Mobile Mining Co. under (he supervision of RoyL. Clothier. During the course of this work, considerable ore was extracted and a shipment made to 3wansea, Wales, the result of which was said to be extremely satisfactory to the management. Mr. Porter and Dalby B. Morklll, B.CX.U3., lay out a new program of development for the property. An excellent showing was made this year by a short tunnel driven on one of the veins by the owners, two assays on fourteen inches of ore giving respectively 987 and 262 ounces in silver, a considerable amount of the silver being visible in native form. Next season, it is expected, an aggressive development campaign will be undertaken by the new With about three hundred feet of underground work done, development workon the Marmot Engineer propertyi Portland Canal) has been temporarily suspended at an interesting point, the lead which was the tunnel's objective having been encountered. The compressor was badjy in need of overhauling when the lead was reached but, nevertheless, the manager, George H. Bunn, crowded it in an attempt to crosscut tdthe opposite wall before suspending operations. The vein, however, proved too large for this to be done and, after cross-cutting twenty-one feet, suspension became imperative. The width of the vein fannot be foretold from surface indications, parts of the Week-End Specials MALKIN'S BEST TEA 1-lb. pkg B. C. The vein is separated from the country rock by a substantial layer of talc, the vein itself being banded into various sections, each distinct in Itself, but all associated into one big body and all appearing to form a good milling product. Samples of the ore show white quartz matrix, carrying galena and chalcopyrite, the galena being more prevalent than appears on the surface. It L" the inUprition, when the compressor has xn pit1 Into condition, to drift on the vein to get unic: a showing of solid chalcopyrite which h3 been partially developed on the surface and which appears to be the outcrop of a strong shoot of shipping ore. Because of its proximity to the beach, which is only six miles distant, be-in? connected with a pack train and wagon road, favorable shipping iais have been secured. Diamond drilling on the Atlas property in the vicinity of the George Copper has been suspended for this season without the contract being finished. Until the work Is completed, the engineers in charge of the operations, Messrs. Stewart, Batten and associates, have nothing to report as to the results of the drilling. Following the recent visit to that camp of the associate editor, Aia Langley, M.E., M.I.M.M., there fi been much in the Financial News about the Stewart field. The Big Missouri region in the Bear River valley is described in detail. The Premier mine is also described and Mr. Langley is of the opinion that ore bodies there are' not going to be depleted as fast as might have been expected.
