Advertising and Circulation Telephone 98 Editor and Reporters' Telephone 86' Member of Audit Bureau of Circulations DAILY EDITION tu- Tuesday, December 17, 1929 FISH CONFERENCE The dinner given Saturday night to W. A. Found, deputy minister of fisheries, took somewhat of the form of a ponference because a number of people interested in fisheries matters were able to give theirMews to the minister and be had an opportunity of replying. It was a very interesting event and one that is worthy of repetition. We are not suggesting that a dinner of this kind should take the place of a public conference, because there would be sure to be others who would wish to have something to say. The difficulty with the ordinary conference is that so many speakers have nothing of importance to say and so much time is wasted. Men often get up to talk just for the safe of hearing themselves talk. buccess consists m fitting yourself for an unlimited amount of work and securing the opportunity to carry it out. MINING ON QUEEN CHARLOTTES Dr. J. f . Mandy, district engineer, suggests the possibility of mining developments on Queen Charlotte Islands. These islands have splendid timber, which is being manufactured at Prince Rupert and at Vancouver or being ground into pulp at the paper mills; it has fisheries which are in need of careful fostering; it has excellent oil prospects and already some mining is being done there in a quiet way. We suggest that the attention of mining men should be turned in that direction following the advice of the engineer, and we make the prophecy that good results will follow.
