Endorses Close Season for Trout at Lakelse Lake, Which F6rmerly I Was Opposed TERRACE, Oct. 4 The council of the Terrace Board of Trade held its monthly meeting on Tuesday evening in the municipal hall, E. T. Von -o mic I The secretary riportedhat a spe- a clal meeting had been 'held during jr fho mnnth fn fnnfur with Malnr llearn of the Lakelse hatchery Raiding, shortening the close season on trout in Lakelse Lake and Its I tributary waters. Upon hearing the I fishery department's presentation of the situation a compromise was I arrived at, tne council agreeing toiway a resolution asKing tne government to open the season on Lakelse River on May 1, but agreeing to the close season on the lake extending from November 15 to May 23, as it now stands. Major Hcarn pointed out that early In the month very little damage was done the salmon fry by the trout In the lake, whereas the fishing undoubtedly was a blK attraction during the tourist season and urged protection in the lake until the later date. Correspondence was read regarding furnishing the C.N.R. dining car service with a special grade of Terrace grown potatoes. It was felt that this should prove an attractive market both as regards price and as an advertising medium, but as a representative of the service had visited the district in the meantime and Interviewed some of the ranchers no action was taken. Parking at Lake The much debated, question of parking space and beach facilities at Lakelse Lake was given an impetus by a letter from Dr. Wrinch anklnc If anvthlne had been done In the matter. It was decided to again request that a 66-foot road ! be built around the north end of the lake, thus opening up the way to a good beach and offering sufficient parking space for some time to come. Arrangements were made for the quarterly meeting of the board which will be held next week.
