To half a pound of butter add one SMALL tin of Pacific Milk, in which has been dis- solved a small pinch of baking soda. Whip ‘till the butter has all been taken up and allow to se! gradually in a cool place. It makes almost a pound of butter—good butter, too. More than once did he execute some excellent saves. In the defense for the railwaymen there were many weak spots but these were covered up by the good work of the man between the stakes. After John Currie came back the danger of breaking through was less, for the young fellow was kicking an excellent foot. 7 = It would be better for the foot- ball league if all the’ referees checked u pthe players for their conduct on the field as well as did J. Day Bell on Friday evening. He had no patience with the players who were playing a foul game and were too free with their language on the publie place. It was not necessary to check them more than onee and it is always so easy to stop such tactics in their early stages. Clean football al- ways provides a better entertain- ment for the spectators who re- pudiate any mean plays. * * * Many angling parties were oul over the week end and among the favored spots were Shawatlans Lake and Woodworth Lake. Both bodies of water can be covered in one trip but it takes hard going to make the whole trip from town in one day. However, with two or three days free as was the con- dition this holiday, the trip could be made in comparative ease. LITERARY LADY LEAVES FOR EAST Mrs. E. C. Cotes who has been spending a month or two in this city at the Prince Rupert Hotel, left for the east yesterday. While here she completed a movie play and she will go to New York in connection with it. Also she will visit her old home at Brantford, Ontario, before going to England. Mrs. Cotes is a writer of note, her work being published under the name of Jeannette Duncan. While here she absorbed a good deal of information and doubtless Prince Rupert will figure largely in some of the writings of this gifted lady as a result. Mr. Cotes left earlier to tour with the Prince as Reuter’s spec- ial representative. ‘ee ee eee ee ee Ce eS * LOCAL NEWS (TEMS * "+t ek eR Re RH eT Dr. R. E. Page of Stewart ar- P.R.
