It left the enemy with one trump and enabled them to reduce Mr. Abel s trump holding again by leading diamonds. The better play was to cash the two spades, hoping the adverse spades were divided 3-2. Thus four of the five outstand- WITHOUT LOSING THE LEAD, Playing in this manner Mr. Abel would have gained one "tempo" all he needed to make his game.
