BLACKABY, whose transfer tp a Vancouver branch of the Bank of Montreal is announced after 11 years in Prince Rupert, expresses the hope that Prince Rupert will have been the better as a result of his having been here. We think it will be. During his stay here, Mr. Blackaby contributed to community life in certain ways that are not usual with banking men. He took an interest in public and civic affairs but it was in the church field, particularly among the young people, that his principal and most effective efforts were centred. It was there that he and Mrs. Blackaby performed a particularly valued work and played a part in elevating life for a good many people, particularly boys and girls. Their many friends will wish them good health and happiness in the metropolis. Who's Happiest, Anyway? U UR WAY of life,"" as it is called in 1951, was quite unknown 50 years ago or so. No one could travel GOO miles in an hour. No one, sitting in Winnipeg, could carry on a conversation w:ith somebody in Halifax. An audience seated in San Francisco could not listen to an orchestra in Chicago. Not everyone out on the great open spaces could save time and legs by using a telephone. Were people any happier then than now? Nobody really knows. How could they? It all comes back to deciding that life is what you make it a long time ago or this afternoon.
