During the past few weeks the Portland Canal As. sociation has bestirred itself, and as a result a large amount of ore samples have been op display at the Stewart mining headquarte Many of these have.gone south with Thursday's shipment and they are bousd to attract atten- tion. FENERY OF There was a good attendance for the closing night of the Chau- taugqua series of entertainments held this year at the skating rink. While the building was not crowded all the chairs were filled and of the benches. The Serbian Tambur ica orches- tra gave an interesting and varied program and the general verdict was that it was a ‘rattling good show.” The first half was made up partly of operatic selec- tions which were well played. The second’ was devoted more particularly to the light melodies and more popular airs for which the type of instrument is particu- larly suited. The audience was some very free with its applause and all seemed to be enjoying them- selves The chief criticism that can be made was that the singing was poor. As, however, the vocal numbers were undoubtedly put i: for the sake of variety and were really outside the of the orchestra, it is perhaps hardly fair to mention this, On the whole the entertainment was a one. People went to hear native Serbian instruments they were not disappointed. In the afterrroon Miss Attiyeh gave an interesting description of the manners and customs of the people of Turkey and particu- larly of _the women. scope good the and IN PROBATE, COURT MBIA. “OF THE IN THE OF BRITISH IN THE MATTER TION ACT IN THE MAPTYER ¢ AMANDA FUCHS CEASED TAKE NOTI a of the Pegistrar Columbia, mad ¢ ADMINISTRA and — OF THE ESTATE OF HAMILTON, DE- that jn order of the supreme Court of British ihe 30th day of August, A.D, 1919, James MecAleenan, Esq, was appointed Excveutor to the estate of Amanda Fuchs Harmditon, deceased, and all parties having claims against the said estate are hereby roquired to furnish same, properly verified, 1: me, on or before the Sth dav of Oetoher A TD 10149, and all parties indebted to whe estate are required to pay the amount of thejr indebtedness to me forthwith.
