Boards f)RIXCE RUPERT is again honored as the meet-r ing place for the Associated Boards of Trade of Central B.C. and the affiliated Chambers of Southeast Alaska. No organization will be more warmly welcomed by the people of Prince Rupert than this group of boards and trade and chambers of commerce which has probably become the most influential body concerned with economic development in the large area it serves. It is a tribute to those older citizens of the various communities stretching from the Alberta boundary to the coast of British Columbia and more recently extended to our good neighbors in Alaska, that the organization they created has grown in numbers and in power to the end that today it is recognized by the presence of cabinet ministers and the powerful Board of Trade of Vancouver. The resolutions that will be presented from the various chambers and boards will reflect in true measure the problems each community considers of most pressing importance. With due consideration of each resolution by the group as a whole and properly drafted by the resolutions committee, the final composite resolutions will be those that no government can afford to ignore, unless it is seeking political suicide, which at times we fear that it would appear to be so. We live in a dynamic age. Men and women who give freely of their talents and time to public service in their communities are tired of the procrastination of government on the problems of central and northern B.C. Members of government "dressed in brief authority" should take heed of the resolutions to be passed by this convention of associated boards of trade, and remember the historic statement which can be applied to this convention, "Magna Carta is the law, let' the King- look out." Sincere workers for their communities are no longer going to waste their energies on public service if their efforts are ignored, stalled and piously Or!c Iriil money which Canada will need Heavens. -A -d mere Sir, said mation at a conference between to pay all old persons the new ' ine guide, "are the Pleid?s ana tne city council and the Power national pension: f .ie Great Bfcar."
