Hospital in Poor Financial Condition. ° With The General Hospital is headed direct for bankruptcy. the increased cost of living an effort was made to run the in- stitution without increasing the cost to the community. Fishing Season was Not a Success. The big part of the halibut fishing season is over. All records have been made and some of the smaller boats will soon retire for the winter. At such a time it is well to look back and see what is wrong with the industry. Quite near the beginning of the season when the catches were being made the strike stopped the fishing, as the longshoremen and the fish packers refused to handle the catches. That was the first spoke in the wheel of progress. The same cause acting indirectly prevented a supply of ice being put up a! the cold storage and the resuit was that early in the season the ice supply failed, and boats were much delayed in getting enough to take with them to the fishing grounds.
