Another - attraction, which is expected to create a lot of interest, will be a showing of native arts and crafts, and will feature some of the finest private collections of Indian lore in the North. Surrounding Indian villages also will contribute to this display. ! A fisheries display,, a mining display and a -showing of industriaUaryiftstural resources-filrnS also is scheduled. AlSob films, showing in color the Kitimat project, will arrive this week. ENTERTAINMENT TOO Nightly contests .'during the exhibition will . be highlighted by the crowning of the "Fair Queen of the North," one of three contestants who will be selected by a popularity vote. They are Mae Newton, sponsored by Canadian Legion; Elaine Steffens, Sons or Norway; and Margaret Gagnon, Columbia Cellulose Ball Club. And there will be a bathing beauty contest to decide who is the most beautiful of Prince Rupert girls and women. A "beautiful gams show" also has been slated, as well as a junior King and Queen contest, winners of all to-receive handsomit prizes. Other contests include fishing derbies, Dominion Day sports and loggers' contests. A gay-way, rides, stage show and nightly dancing will offer the lighter side of entertainment. The Navy Drill Hall will be used in conjunction with the audiutoriums and gymnasia of the Civic Centre building for the displays. All receipts will go to running and expansion of the Civic Centre, which operates on a yearly deficit of some $5,000. Focal point of the Prince' Rupert Exhibition, to he held at the Civic Centre and surrounding grounds June 29 to July 7, will be the first-time in many years showing in the North of a full-blown industrial and natural resources display. "This is really going to be something new and different in Prince Rupert," T. Norton Youngs, chairman of the exhibition committee has pro-mised. "All members of the committee are convinced the PRE this yearwill lay the foundation ; of "bigger and better things to come." .- ? ,rl . Sponsored by the Civic Centre, the exhibition will be divided into three departments: ' Industrial, Natural, Entertainment. In the industrial display some 50 business houses and manufacturers in and near Prince Rupert many of which are advertising in these pages will feature their pro'ducts and wares to show that Prince Rupert is keeping up with the times. An auto show will include the newest models of all makes of cars and trucks handled in Prince Rupert. There will be fashion displays, a fur show, and the latest in electrical appliances. Heavy machinery, marine displays, and showings of Prince Rupert manufactured fish products. The natural resources display will be centred around a large model supplied by the Aluminum Company of Canada, shipped here directly from the Toronto Trades Fair, and will be operated by Alcan personnel. A Columbia Cellulose Co. Ltd. display, showing a scale model of their pulp mill at Watson Island, has been received from the Victoria department of lands and forests.
