We, the people ol Northern British Columbia, particularly welcome the opening of production at the Cellulose Mill and all it means to the economy of this part ol the country, being, without question, the result of considerable expenditure on trie, part of the Cellulose Company and extensive planning of the many details, all of which have now been brought to a successful fruition. We take this opportunity of extending, on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, our very best wishes for a continuous and profitable operation. It is Indeed a pleasure to the members of this Chamber to see that th, plans you first Investigated and then put on the drawing board have materializezd and that we are now looking at the mill hi operation. We indeed feel proud to have you associated v.ith us as an industry in Northern British Columbia and, in particular, the Prince Rupert area. To fd! the officials, executives and members of the staff we would extend our very heartiest thanks for the effort and time you have put into this and the expenditures which have been made in establishing this industry here. At the same time, we would point out that, in utilizing the resources of Northern British Columbia, you are undertaking to develop these with the first perpetual logging license issued in British Columbia, which should result in a continuous supply of raw materials in perpetuity. This undertaking is one indead which we welcome and I am sure we will look forward with interest to the continuous application of same in the developing conservation and utilization of the natural resources which you will convert into products. We hope that in the near future you will find that, because of the natural and geographical location of your Mill, it will be deemed advisable to expand this further and that with the raw resources which you will now convert into cellulose, it will be found practical and possible to further manufacture these in this area, thus adding to industry and the prosperity of this Northern section In going into operation, your plant will unquestionably realize, in part, the pldilf and dreams of many of the earlier pioneers of this Northern section. I am Biiri that, while the City of Prince Rupert and district are not old in relation to other parts of Canada, we feel that, with the establishment, such as you have brought to this district, we are surely and steadily coming into th heritage which we hold in the development of natural resources, in which this part of the Province abounds. Again on behalf of the Chamber or Commerce and the citizens of this area we congratulate you and express to you our appreciation and a continuance of co-cpmUiin with yourselves in any manner in which we may serve you.
