William Chisholm, I K.C, leader of the Liberal opposi- tion lit- the Nova- Scotia hou.se of i assembly. He attributed the polit- i i.hI nnil arrrrry n tiititau rf I7.f ern Canada to the predominance of young men in public life, and stressed that politics was "not a sordid nor undignified occupation, but Is among the most honorable of all avocations." The message was as follows; 'There is one wish I have for Nova Scctia as the New Year approaches. It has to do with public affairs, or, as we sometime say, public life. I hope that this year will see the youth of Nova Scotia becoming more and more interested in public affairs and political questions. Too long has the burden of politics been left to the older men of this province. The time has arrived when we need ia Nova Scotia to a far greater extent than has been the case in the past, a rtore youthful vision. We'-w&nt and need the, young brains of Nova Scotia to tackle the problems facing our public life. I look at Western Canada and I find that the vital thing is their success politically and economically has been the predominance of young men In the public life of those province. What I deslreAgost of all is to see our! young isjgand women gtv e a more f intensive study to provincial and national problems.
