Booth won tho toss and decided to play down hill. With the help of the very .strong wind, that made it almost impossible for the Borden players to get the ball up the field. Booth pressed from the beginning but they were unable to penetrate the strong Borden defence. Nelson and Wardroper backed up by Cromp made "several nice runs and at times were dangerously near seoring for Booth but the Borden defence gave them no opportunity to shoot. Playinj hard against thr wind, the Borden forwards, led by Wilson, Campbell and Dungate, now brought the play tr the Booth goal. A good chance wus given to them to score when Allen left his goal to clear but the Booth backs, MacDonald and Ferguson, eventually saved their goal. Gomez now sent the ball down toward the Bor den goal and Morgan was several times called upon to save which he did In good style, but eventually Nelson ran through the Borden defence and opened the- score for Booth with a hard and well directed shot. After the kick-off Borden pressed and Wilson and Lindsay tried shots but they could not score. Hardy centred, Hill and Nakamoto tested the Booth goalkeeper but no score resulted and the half-time whistle sounded leaving Booth one goal ahead. During the second half, Borden was the attacking team but their shooting lacked strength and direction, though Dungate, Morgan and Hardy sent in some hard well directed shots. Ivarson, the Booth centre forward, now received the ball well up the field and raced for the Borden goal. He shot we41 and scored Booth's second goal. Shortly after Wardroper scored a third. The Borden players now tried hard but their chief weakness was in allowing their opponents too much time to kick clear Clever work by Hardy. Joe Cromin. . mnii shortstop of Washington ii .utors has been selected most valuable player in American lrigue for 1930. Morgan and Nakamoto several limes almost brought the debited soals. Ptnally in the press Dungate received the ball and with a beautiful shot scored Borden's one and -nly goaL The full-time whistle sounded leaving Booth winners by three goals to nil. For the winners all played well and hard. .Ivarson, Wardroper and Nelson were outstanding. For the losers Hardy. Nakamoto.
