PATRICK IS HONORED Fireside Club Had Special Program For Occasion Last Night The anniversary of St. Patrick Mvas celebrated last night by the Fireside Club of First Baptist Church with a suitable program which proved most acceptable to all present. V. Houston, the president, who was in the chair, con- ducted devotional exercises and gave a brief address. Then there was a social with Miss Agnes Daw son as convener. The story of St. Patrick was told by Miss Catherine Mussallem and there were vocal solos by Miss iBeulah McKlnley and Vic Houston as well as a piano solo by Miss Aletta McKlnley. Games were play-led with Miss Jean Smith In charge and delightful refreshments were served before the evening's proceedings were brought to a close. A fair attendance enjoyed a hap-Ipy evening. The committee respon sible for the whole affair consisted of the group leaders Miss Agnes Dawson, Miss Catherine Mussallem Miss Jean Smith and Miss Cathie Watson. Let the Daily News Classified Ads. work for you. s: CONCERT SUCCESS Fine Program Given in Connection With Celebration of St. Patrick's Day Three hundred or more persons were Jn attendance at the Moose Hall last night for the annual St. Patrick's Day concert under the a'upices of the local Catholic Church and the patronage of Bishop E. M. Bunoz O.M.I. Direction of the concert was in the capable hands of Charles P. Balagno and the program from start to finish was both enjoyable and interesting. The first part consisted of a splendid musical program and the second was a well executed one-act skrtch "The Obstinate Way" director! by A. A. Connon. The program opened with two selections by the Prince Rupert Boys' Band ' under direction of Bandmaster Thomas Wilson. The bu. was in excellent form in the piaylnr of, a march and, second, a medley of Irish airs. Dancing and singing novelties which followed included a turn by small pupils of Annunciation School entitled.. "Happy LIUle Be-fclr os," and a Gypsy Dance by girls of the school. Both these numbers were excellently performed. A darky dialogue entitled "Pican- nlnles" by Miss June Gomez and Master Harold Anderson was much applauded. The Junior Choir thn gave two melodious choruses "Beautiful Isle cf the S.i" and "Ireland, I Love You A reel t ion "Dawn on the Irish Coast" bv Miss-Marie Murphy was another outstanding number. " LitUe Miss Marie Balagno played with her usual skill two piano solos, first "Tarantella" and second, "Toccata." An Irish jig by Miss Elisabeth McLeod was performed splendidly and was -much appreciated. ' Mrs. James Waugh was In fine voice in the singing of "Dear Little Shamrock," responding to an encore with a suitable number. D. B. Finn delighted the audience with two vocal solos which brought the first part of, the program to a 'close. After a five-minute interval dur ing whleh selections were played by the Boys Band, the one-act sketch was staged. It proved a very amusing farce and all participating played their parte well. Those In the cast were Miss Margaret Palmer, Harry Ward, Miss M. Gwyer. W. Lyon, O. C. Arseneau and Mis. Malile Macdonald. The audience went home well satisfied at another fitting celebra tion of the anniversary of Erin's patron saint. The report of Fire 'Chief D. II. McDonald for the month of Feb ruary, presented to the city council last night, showed that there had been four alarms during the month, no damage having been done.
