For BERLIN, Jan. 20 Highly favorable results in the treatment of cancer with Uamuv blue, a dyestuff. were reported by Dr. II. Bernard at the recent meeting of the Berlin Medical Society. Dr. Bernard told of satisfactory treatment of 200. eases, undertaken since 1926 at the ellnic for internal medicine at Charite Hospital. Isamin blue was found especially efficacious in combination with irradiation treatment fRoentgen. radio or diathermic). The dyestuff materially enhanced the efficacy of the rays in the dual sense of Impregnating the local cancer tissues and diminishing their powers of resistance on the one hand, and on the other, of increasing the body's resisting functions against the poisonous agents by virtue of the dyestuffs disinfecting qualities. In the ensuing discussion in which Prof. Ferdinand Blumenthal, head of the institute for cancer re- search, joined, it was agreed that the injection of isamin blue into the blood circulation in conjunction with Irradiation represented a . . . Orme will announce his standing committees for the year at the inaugural meeting of the 1880 city council tonight. There is not so much speculation about the personnel of the major committer this year as usual.- owing to the fact that the material of the aldcrmanic board falls pretty naturally Into the various department on this Occasion. The chairmen from 1929 are each on the council again this year, and will, no doubt, be re-appointed unless, of course, there should be such a thing as any of them desiring not to assume the responsibilities again. That Aid. Theo Collart will retain the finance chairmanship, Aid. W. M. Brown the Board of Works, and Aid. S. D. Macdonald, utilities, seems certain. ' As lot the new aldermanlc material, it would appear natural that Aid. H. F. Pullen should go to the finance committee; Aid. J. 11 PllUbury, Board of Works; and Aid. James Black, utilities. Aid. O. W. Rudderham will, no doubt, be on both the Board of Works and utlll- crow flies, at the Dominion Govern-1 committee again and the prob-ment Experimental Farm at Fort I jollity 1 that AW. P: H. R. Must Have New Outlet MAY BE HERE Showing that the trend of development of wheat production ir. Canada was to the north and west as evidence in the growth of the Peace River Valley and the construction of the. Hudson Bay Railway, CoL S. P. McMordie told the Rotary Club at its weekly luncheon today that It was logical that the Canadian Pacific Railway should sek a new terminus on the British Columbia coast north of Vancouver. That outlet would be either at Prince Rupert or some other port would have to be found. It behooved Prince Rupert to stress Its claims In the matter, for it already had strong advantages, the most Important of which was that the Canadian National line was already established here. The ex-mayor reiterated confidence which he had previously expressed that the Canadian Pacific would come in here. Col. McMordie was speaking on "The Railway Situation and Prospects in the West." G.
