Shaw, Near 74, Finds Editing 'Works' Boring LONDON, Aug. 1: George Bernard Shaw, who was 74 last Saturday, has begun editing his whole literary output, not caring to leave the task to posterity. An edition of 30 volumes, now in preparation, is limited to t.000 sets. He has laid ! aside all creative work for this purpose. But he is bored with the "It looks as If I shall spend the rest of my life at this Job," he complained the other day. "It won't do; It's holding up my other work and it's a worrying task." It took a woman to outwit the Iiuh sage. She' wrote asking Shawl for a free copy of his latest book for a newly organized woman's society. Shaw wrote across her let- ter: "Damn it, no; a woman's society that cannot afford to pay IS shillings for a copy of my book has no right to estst." I He signed the note and returned it to the woman. A fortnight later, she again wrote Shaw to Inform nut that a bookseller haa-ttradqd1 hea copy ofXhe book for Vie let- j ter bearing Shaw's autograph. j Shaw had the last word, however. ' Across the bottom of the woman's second letter he scrawled: I "What fools women are! If you had taken it to the right place you ' would have got 50 for it." And he , signed that, too, and sent it back. ANNOUNCEMENTS Moose Bazaar, October 16, 17. . Moose Dance August 1. Dry Dock Employees Picnic 3 to Tugwell Island. Get quick results with a want ad.
