Perry asked several ques. | tions at Monday night's aT and] economical and They were as | meeting from moral standpoints. follows: What method is adopteu by the city in keeping track of and stor ing city tools? Answer by mayor— The city} purchasing agent takes stock per- odically.. The stock, which has been low for some time, is stored in the basement of the fire hall and in the city stables. Recently new locks have been put on the city stables. Ald. Perry recommended that the matter be looked into and tho a satisfactory system for the keeping of these tools be adopted. Is the work of Mr. Black in ‘onnection with the drawing of vlans nearly finished? Answer by mayor—The work s nearly finished and they are in ‘xcellent shape. Ald. Perry reeommended that Vr. Black’s services be dispensed with as soon as the work is com- jleted to avoid unmeeessary ex- penditure. Why is it proposed that Ed. Bannier be further prosecuted for selling liquor after he had al- ‘eady received a fine under the ndian Act? Answer by the mayor—The fact that Bannier was a German had nothing to do with the matter. It was the feeling that a jail sen- fence would have been more to ihe point. Recently some others had gone to Okalla for the same offence. It was apparent that Bannier had been making a busi- ness of selling liquor and it was the general feeling that the fifty- ifty sharing of fines with the ‘onstable under the Indian Act vas not a good system. It was ihe method and not nationality hat had caused dissatisfaction. Mr. Perry said that he was at the trial. He thought that it was ‘learly a case under the Indian vet. He did not like the system of sharing fines either but it was he Indian constable’s duty to voseéute under the Indian Act. The mayor said that the city police were all ready,to prosecul: under the B. C, Prohibition Act, but that the Indian constable had nsisted that it was his case. at. Perry said that a punish- nent could be made just as severe under the Indian Act as under the 8. C. Prohibition Act. QUITE CAPTIVATED LARGE AUDIENCE Fisher’s Folly Girls Played to Full, House at the Westhoime Last Night.
