The sidewalk proposed would be the first of its kind In the city. The surface would be of asphalt with creosoted timber base and concrete piers. Aid. Pullen thought that the cost and probable lifetime of the pro posed sidewalk should be made clear at the outset. He was also desirous of knowing If the walk would be of good appearance and would It be of tarry surface. It was possible that again some opposition to the bylaw mlgh't develop. City Engineer Good replied that the cost was estimated at $165 per 25-foot lot or about $15 a year. The lifetime of the sidewalk should be upwards of 30 years although, even like concrete walks, some' attention might be required meantime. He thought the surface would look well of greyish appearance. There would not be a tarry surface since only asphalt was being used.
