Peter Heenan, minister of labor, today tabled in the House of Commons an order-in-council providing, with certain exceptions, that the hours of work of all employees of the Dominion government who are now required to work more than eight hours a day will be reduced to eight hours daily with half-holiday nn Saturday. This sunnloments a resolution already on the papers to provide fair wages and hours of work for labor employed by contractors on public works of the Dominion. By these two measures the government of Canada will have fulfilled, as far as lies within its authority, provis ions of the Treaty of Versailles relating to labor.
