The outstanding feature of this Vietory Loan is that “every dollar will be spent in Canada, The fact that none of the money will ben outside the country will be a welcome bit of news to all, for this assures Canada a continu- ance of the splendid prosperity she has enjoyed for some time. The money from the Victory Loan is to be used to finish de- fraying the expenses of demobi- lization, to keep up the military hospitals, to re-establish soldiers in civil tlife and to. establish credits with overseas countries so that they may purchase Canada’s rplus food stuffs and manufac- tured goods. The Victory Loan is the connecting link between the war and the peace that is to re- main, it is hoped, forever. GEORGE BELLON ONTARIO ELECTION Member for Victoria Who was Recently Mere Took Part in Campaign. George Bell, M. P. P., who was recently in Prince Rupert and who is known te many here, returned recently to Victoria after having taken part in the big prohibition campaign in Ontario. He spent three weeks on the stump, speak- ing at meetings in different parts of the province. In an interview given immediately on his return he said: “The heavy vote polled in favor of prohibition is due to the fact that the people of Ontario are in- fluenced by the proximity to the United States. They realized that the United States has gone dry for zood, and they cannot. afford to be the dumping ground of the un- desirables from the republic. They realize further that immediately thead of us is severe competition, that we cannot hope to compete with the millstone of liquor around the neck of the people. This means that our people are ten per cent. less efficient on ac- count of even moderate drinking to say nothing of the high of liquer, which previous to pro- hibition was thirty-six million dollars per annum. : ” cost The Nabob group on Glacier Creek was last week bonded by «.
