Further Worthless Check Complaint Several Local Concerns Said to Have Been Victimized by Young Vancouver Man Further complaints have been filed at the city police station against Harry Taylor, who was arrested at the end of last week on a charge of obtaining money by false pretences and appeared ln city -olice court yesterday morning, being remanded for eight days. It is now alleged that Taylor, obtaining identification from a local estate office by trickery, presented to a city bank and had cashed a worthless check for $80. Still an--"hev worthless check he is alleged to have cashed was one for $30 drawn on a Vancouver bank, for which he received cash from a waterfront businessman. An option, at a figure which is not disclosed, has been taken by the Consolidated Mining & Smelting Co. from Frank Cole of Prince Rupert' and George Keys of Porcher Island on a group of copper and zinc claims on Gibson Island, it was learned this morning at local offices of the Consolidated. Olbson Island, where the claims are situated, is a small island at the north end of Grenville Channel, some 15 or 20 miles below Prince Rupert ln the main steamship channel. During the coming season, Consolidated will do surface work on the property preparatory to determining whether or not development will be proceeded with on a large scale. The property has attracted considerable attention during the past two or three years and the owners as well as others who have been on it believe that it may make a producer of some Importance.
