ii PAGE POUR THE DAttX NEWS DANCE IS SUCCESS FOOTBALL IS PLAYED High School Inter-Class ' League Starts Activities The first game of the High School Inter-Class Soccer League was won by the team from Grades 10 and 11 when they defeated the Grade 9 team by a score of 4 to 3. The play was very even although the experience of the 10-11's showed In better combination. Their forward line was particularly not able for quick and accurate passing. Only one of its members showed a ! tendency to be selfish and to make I useless attempts to go through: alone. The backs were aggressive,! keeping their forwards supplied with well placed kicks. Their outstanding weakness was kicking across their own goal mouth in moments of danger. TJt& Grade Nine forwards were not working well together. Although singly they were playing aggressively, they failed to co-operate. They were remarkable for vigorous solo rushes following up shots at gocl. but cash hesitated waiting fur the other to frrcc the ball through when there was crowded play in front of the goal mouth. i A fault common to the back U-1 vision of both teams was the habit of backing up clt.se to their goal mouth as the opposing forwards swept In. This hindered the goal keepers. In one play the grade nine goal keeper, who displayed throughout a power of quick decision, had to come in front of his fullbacks to clear the ball in order to stop an otherwise certain shot. In- the i handling of corner kicks, the Grade Nine team showed itself superior both in attack and defence. However, the quick thinking of the Ten -Eleven goal keeper prevented them from a well deserved soar. Grade 9 Suehiro; Blake, Davies; Eby, Cross, Undseth; Fisher,.
