Varied Entertainment Enjoyed Meeting Last Night at The Young People's Society of the First United Church held its first regular meeting in the parlors of The church last evening with' about thirty young people present. After the regular business of the evening, the literary committee put on a short Christmas scene. The room was in darkness but for a bon-fire which was lighted on the platform and at which Bruce Ste-1 vens sat. dressed as an Arab. Hi pave a Christmas reading and dur-1 ing the course of it a few of thej members sang Christmas Carols from behind the scene. j Following this golf, played on ai nine-hole course made by the ath-1 letic committee, was enjoyed and volley ball and table tennis were also played. Previous to that the highest number was In March last when 5917 books were placed in circulation. In November the distribution was maed up of fiction, 3,655; duplicate pay, 199; non-fiction, 673; juvenile, 1.528. The average per day that the library was open was 2882. New borrowers during November totalled 70; 28 cards were cancel led leaving in all 3,140 registered, borrowers. New books were received, 14 by gift; and 110 by purchase making a total of 124 added to the shelves During the same time 48 were discarded as having outlived their usefulness leaving 7,459 volumes in all in the library- collection.
