Sent 12 TaVnir nii. orld brotherhood is in, sight, (vantage of the absence of the local consiaoie several establishments in Terrace were broken Into in the early hours of Saturday morning, though It seems that the burglars secured little booty for their trouble. The first and most spectacular effort was to break Into the beer parlor run by E. Wlllee of the Terrace Hotel. Entrance was obtained by breaking a window and the cash register was removed about fifty yards to a poslUon behind a large pile of heater wood. Here the culprits used the axe near the pile for cutting the wood and smashed the register completely, but only secured a few dollars before Mrs. Wlllee flashed a light from the hotel window tn the direction of the noise. Realizing that they had arouseU . inmates of the hotel the bandits! t left so hurriedly that a sum of money was left lying beside the damaged register. I 'Later an attempt was made to , force the door of he liquor vendor's store and the ordinary lock was ; smashed, but a substanUal Yale lock behind withstood the efforts! of the would-be entrants. ! Next a visit was paid to the Do-! minion Telegraph office next door, ! and entrance was effected by way! of the window, but nothing of value I was taken, the safe being too secure j for the efforts of the Intruders, i A visit was afterwards paid to I the Phllbert Hotel, but L.
