Berchmans, who wa&v one of the first teachers of St. Joseph's Academy In Prince Rupert and who remained In this city f orovcr nine years. She vecame very well known while here and was highly esteemed by all with whom she came in contact. Sister Berchmans' death came after he had suffered intensely but patiently for some months. Sister Berchmans was born and "ducated In the city of Quebec and entered the Community of the Sis-ers of St. Joseph 28 years ago. Her -eligious life was devoted to teach-ng in the parochial schools of Toronto with nine years spent In the rlnce Rupert mission. Sister Berchmans was here In '918 during the epidemic of influenza and was one of the' sisters who vent at that time to the Queen 'ha riot te Islands to minister to the flu-stricken men of the lumber -jnmps there. In 1929 Sister Berchmans was ap-minted Superior for St. Anne's 'onvent In Winnipeg and In 1930 f the House of the Novitiate of St. Toseph's-on-th-Lake at Scarboro. Int.
