C: C. Graham, called here from 8:30 to 10 o'clock Sunday morning. It was a very rainy day yet most of the ex cursionists came ashore to walk around the town in which they evinced considerable interest. Prince Rupert was one of three Canadian points at which the Admiral Rogers called In the course of the cruise. Phillipson Is anxious that an analysis should be made of a supposed soft drink manufactured- in the city which he suspects is intoxicating. PETE OPENS CASH-CARRY New Grocery to Be in De Luxe Building Iieneath Eagles Hall, Third Avenue A new cash and carry grocery Is opening on September 1 in the De Luxe Hall. The proprietor is a well known grpceryman of the city, Pete DeJong, late employee of the Economy Cash it Carry store. Mr. DeJong, who is also one of the proprietors of the Dominion Dairy, was for three and a half years an employee of the Rupert Table Supply. He has a number of friends in Prince Rupert and doubtless will do a good business. The building in which the store Is to be opened is of concrete with a large basement. It was built for use as an ice cream and confectionery store and is owned by James Klllas. Later it was occupied as a tent and awning store but for several months has been unused. H. Weight, formerly United Church pastor at Hazelton, was Invited to Conduct service aboard the steamer Athenla on which vessel' he wa then crossing the Atlantic Ocean to the Old Country. The promenade deck aft was filled for the occasion with a large audience of various nationalities including Scotch, Irish, Canadian, etc. The congregational singing was delightful, tho service of praise being led by an orchestra. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon with brilliant sun shining on the placid waters of tl.e ocean near the Straits of Belle Tsle. Mr. Wright received grateful J praise for a timely and inspiring; message which he delivered. lie , spoke from the words: "Steady un-l til the going down of the sun." The I crowd was so large that extra I chairs had to be found to accommodate all. On the Thursday following Mr. Wright presided over a popular concert aboard the Athenla held for the benefit of sailors' widows and orphans. At the close of the concert, the program of which in cluded a wide variety of vocal and Instrumental entertainment, the audience sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" In recognition of Mr Wright's services as chairman. On board the ship were a number of deportees returning to Eng-gland. Scotland and Ireland after falling to pass the tests of Cana dian immigration regulations.
