Matania shows the mo- ment when the royal barge is coming alongside the plier, near which a pavil- fon had been erected, and from which the King watched the passing of tke rest of the procession. The binks of the river and the bridges were lined with dense crowds of people, who cheered loudly as the royal barge came slowly up. rowed by oarsmen in the picturesque garb of the King’s Water- men. D. NIGHT’S STORM CAUSES DAMAGE Was Worst Wind Experienced in City Since 1909 — Many Windows Broken. Last night's furious windstorm caused considerable damage in various sections of the city, es- pecially down town. In the out- lying sections some small shacks suffered and advertising signs were blown down. Shingles were blown off roofs and some side- walks were picked up bodily and carried away. The small house on First Ave. near the Besner Apartments, formerly occupied by Capt. Mager and family, was blown down. It had been bought by Chief Vickers and was pretty well dismantled, the wind finished the job. Also a shack on Fighth Ave. W. went over. The damage is mone evident in 80 the down town sections where many plate glass windows suf- ‘fered. Several awnings and signs were carried away, striking the windows in falling and shattering them. Among those losing plate glass windows were the Mussal- lem Grocery Co., where the awn- ing was ripped to pieces and AHlown down, the rods striking the window. Kenny Rood’s§ auto- mobile sign went down and broke his big window. J. Killas, B. ©. Cafe, Kirkpatrick & Harper, Army and Navy Club, Two Giris’ Bar, Singer Shop, I. W. W. Hall and the Japanese Mission all lost plate glass windows. The side- walk on Second Avenue was town up at two places, at the corner of Eighth Street and between Second and Third Streets. The iron roof on the Exchange Block was lifted and, rolling backwarmds and for- wardse made quite a thunder-like commotion this morning. Although the harbor was very rough there does not appear to have been much damage done at the waterfront. Saptain Swanson, in his gasoline boat “Regal was cruising about the harbor this morning and the big launch was fairly bouncing. At the G.T. P. yards the roofs were lifted off some of the cars. The storm to- day was undoubtedly one of the wildest ever experienced in the city and reminded old-timers of the fall of 1909 when so many buildings were bowled over in the furious storms of that year. Two-color window cards take the eye quickly. See them at the News Job Department.
