F. Rushbrook was an Interesting speaker last evening at the fortnightly meeting of the I Young People's Society of First j Presbyterian Church, his subject being "Marine Natural Life." Canon ! The proceedings closed with a recreational period, with the pastor. Rev. W. D. Grant Holllngworth, In charge. PRINCIPLE OF "I AM MY BROTHER'S BROTHER" RA-THER THAN "KEEPER ' 'Continued from page one) would be required. If the student was to be self-governing, he mtirt De. prepared to exhibit a large measure of good Judgment and moral stability. Applying the principle of "I am my brother's brothor" to Industry Mr. Ilollingworth declared that there was a social and economic solidarity from which there eou'.d be no escape. The talents of al". were needed. Those members of h Industrial body who were Irs 'onsplctous were needed. It was only when this was fully realized that there was Industrial pear-and prosperity. No man was ricn enough, wise enough or good enough to take upon himself to bt some other man s keener. Emnlov- ees preferred to have their fiH wages paid to them and to be Allowed to provide for their ow.i welfare as they may see fit The management could not say that It was the employees' keener. Mr. Holllngworth then referred o the growing demand for a mor democratic spirit In the control of the great industries. 8hor roni mlttees and shoo conferences dp tween management and men wer. becoming increasingly com mor The man who Invested his flv,-'alents of capital and administrative ability had clear right to b heard and considered in the control of the concern. But there should be a more equitable distribution which eouM not be made accord-to some ironclad rule of supply and demand. There must be a steady regard to human values involved in the huge economic process. "Of this we may be sure," concluded the speaker, "If that final social order of which we dream and for which we pray Is ever to be realised, It will only come as man learns to say: "We are Brothers.' Let us take hold together and. not in selfish antagonism but in friendly co-operation, let u move together toward better economic methods." Prior to Mr. Holllngworth's address, the club disposed of a few business matters. A committee already appointed was given power to act In the matter of negotiating with the Fair Board for con. cessions at the 1931 Exhibition, As many members as poslblc were requested to go to Ketehikan on Juno 13 when members of the local club will pay a fraternal visit to tin Ketchikan Club.
