Practical knowledge of farming, technical training and a keenly analytical mind are the qualifications that make Dr. Grisdale the logical head of the Federal department experimental farm branch, the largest system in the world devoted to agricultural practice, investigations aad research. Vhflt director Dr. Grisdale was called upon to act as Dominion field husbandman from 1911 to 1919 and Dominion botaniit.fren) 1917 to 1919. In 1919, when the position of Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Cansda became vacant, Dr. Grisdale was appointed snd he has held this position since that time, as well as havtnK.been ttting cemmlsotener of agriculture. Dr. Grisdale acted as advisor to the Canadian Government In London, England, in 1922, conferring with the British Ministry of Agriculture regarding regulations incidental to the lifting of the cattle embargo, alsoas agricultural advltor to the Canadian delegation at the 1923 and 1920 Imperial Conference in England. In 1937 Dr. Grisdale headed the Canadian delegation to the Imperial Research Conference in tendon, and in 1929 represented the Canadian Government on the (mprial Agri .cultural Bureaux Research Council.
