Deans, who has served three years in France, has arrived to take the Methodist Church pul- pit in suecession to Rev. James Evans. Under the management of W. J. O'Neill the Smithers electric light plant is again in operation and the streets are lighted up for the winter. The plant has been out of commission for a year. The residence of Sandy Gazely was completely destnoyed by fire on Wednesday morning. Fortu- nately, the volunteer fire brigade were able to save the, most of the furniture. The Flatiron Building is being nemodelled to accommodate the offices and garage of Jas. McKay. Following the visit of General J. W. Stewart and associates to the Silver Standard mine, it has been decided to start the mill at once and remodel the power plant. Underground development is to be carried on in the mine all win- ter.
