The unpopular budget, the Watt case, the alleged financial extravagance, extreme partisanship in re gard to government expenditures, and various other reasons are given why they think there will be a change on election. Undoubtedly the Conservative party has been weaKenea considerably by dissensions in their own ranks, especially in the big centres such as Vancouver and Vic toria, ljie budget just passed has been roundly condemned by many Conservative associations. HOCKEY SEASON ENDING Great interest has been taken in Prince Rupert through out tne season in tne hockey games that have been played in the south. This paper has tried to feature these games as being the livest sport there is during the winter season. The scientific modern game seems to have originated ill Canada and is more nearly a national game than lacrosse, in that it is surviving and increasing in interest whereas lacrosse eems to be languishing. , The Daily News has received many compliments on its sport page of late. This is ,a feature that is much appreciated bthe youngempcn'jbf the community. FLOWER EXHIBIT The Fair Board has increased the prize list for flowers in order to try to increase the interest in the local exhibits. This is in line with the move made last year for the first time to make flowers one of the big features of the exhibition. By doing that, the movement to beautify the city is being advanced and more local people who will attend the fair are interested in it. That the action of the board was appreciated last year was indicated by the increased attendance in the building. KEEP MONEY ,AT HOME There Is a movement afoot to induce no outsiders to come to Prince Rupert to fleece the people at fair time but to get local organizations to carry on the sideshows, the proceeds to go partly to the funds of the board and partly to be used by the other organizations for their public service work. Here again is a cood move. Peonle like to be skirrned but if they are skinned they should be given the satisfaction of knowing that the skinners are local people and that the money goes to improve the city.
