VICTORY
Thursday
the
British
Labor
Government
scored
a
great
victory
when
with
the
aid
of
the
Liberals
they
registered
a
majority
against
a
vote
of
censure
of
54,
one
of
the
largest
majorities
they
have
yet
received.
The
fact
that'
the
resolution
was
moved
by
the
leader
of
the
Conservative
party
made
it
particularly
important
and
many
feared
that
the
party
would
go
down
to
defeat.
Much
interest
was
taken
in
this
event
locally,
opinion
being
about
equally
divided
for
or
against
the
government.
A
good
many
phone
calls
asking
for
information
gives
some
idea
of
the
local
interest

looks
as
if
the
MacDonald
Government
would
be
able
to
hold
out,

is
settled,

We
often
hear
of
Vancouver
doing
business
in
Prince
Rupert
but
not
often
of
Prince
Rupert
getting
business
from
Vancouver
residents.
A
letter
published
in
the
advertisement
of
a
local
clothing
firm
this
week
was
one
received
from
Vancouver
expressing
satisfaction
with
goods
purchased
in
Prince
Rupert.
He
is
a
former
resident
of
this
city
and
doubtless
has
compared
prices
and
satisfied
himself
that
he
can
do
better
here.
Express
charges
would
have
to
be
added
or
absorbed
by
the
merchant
so
that
it
was
a
notable
example
of
getting
business
by
giving
good
value
all
the
time.
We
suggest
ihat
local
merchants
might
cater
a
good
deal
to
out-of-town
trade.
While
it
would
scarcely
be
feasible
for
them
to
advertise
in
the
Vancouver
newspapers,
owing
to
tho
high
rates
charged,
they
can
get
good
coverage
of
the
north
through
the

we
know
