ftTCfE FOT73 THE DAILY NEWS W orld Sport News and Views ti til I BALL GAMES I "Big Bill" Still Going Strong FIRST SHOOT THIS WEEK HIS SEASON Softball Players to Meet Baseball Team at Their Own Game anil Vice-Versa It was decided at a meeting Saturday niftht that the Baseball As-soclat' n would field a te im against the C. N. R. Softball League in a baseball match Wcdn -;ciay evening at the Acropolis Grounds and that they would meet the -oftball players at their own game at the C. N. R. grounds neit Sunday. Some time ago a challenge was sent to the baseball players but it was pooh-poohed as a ioke The challenge was pressed and some slighting remarks were made about the courage of the baseball players but with no response. Then the Softball men were openly boasting that they knew they could play baseball better than some of the men who had made exhibitions of themselves .recently in league games. They said if they couldn't play better than that they wouldn't play at all. This seems to have got under the skin of the legitimates and at a meeting Saturday night It was decided to put a team in the field, but there is still noticed an air of jofty disdain on the part of the baseball players for their Softball opponents. The result of the games will therefore be watched with interest. SATURDAY SCORES National League New York 5-7, Cincinnati 0-1 Brooklyn 2-2, Pittsburg 5-3. Boston 1, Chicago 6.
