AND WRINCH RESPOND TO SHELLY ALLEGATIONS to convey vo him five blocks of land to which under the Land Act, was lawfully entitled when the .subdivision on the area in Hazel-ton was cancelled. It had taken a period of seven years for the matter be straightened out, during which Dr. Wrinch bought the land which was rightfully his from the crown for $586, and paid townsite taxes for seven years on land that, fw cwwn.g error would have reverted to an agriculture status seven years earlier. The or der-lri-tourtcn set out that this wb injustice to Dr. Wrinch and returned to him $700 Of $786 which thus unjustly was compelled to Dr. Wrinch staled that he had desired to set this area reclassified be available for settlers and, lh doing so. had incurred greater cost than, the proceeds of the sales. There had been no personal gain. had sold the land to settlers before the matter was cleared up and found himself unable to give the purchasers their title. He quoted hla letter to the deputy minister of finance asking as a personal favor. that the question of title be cleaned wun an speea so ue cuum ww the settlers, but stating he was willing to accept any reasonable setUement of his own claims. "Surely that was not unreason able when I had been waiting lor seven years." he said. "If thU statement Is not enough to convince any fair-minded person of my Integrity, the hours of talk wouia do so," he concluded. A. M. Manson said that, In putting through the order-ln-couaeU. was convinced that the course taken was the. only honorable one the crown to take. The crown should be the last to commit an injustice upon the subject. 1 By Canadian Press) VICTORIA, March 19: Replying charges made In the Legislature Tuesday by Hon. W. C. Shelly. m Manson.
