RECISSION PROTESTED Queen Charlotte Island People Want , Information From Government QUEEN CHARLOTTE CITY, Oct. 8, A well attended meeting was held' at, Queen Charlotte City recently for the purpose of finding out why the Attorney General's de partment had rescinded, the appointment of T. R. Davey as stipendiary magistrate. L. McPhee, an-old time Conservative, acted as secre tary. The outcome of the meeting was (he appointment of a committee of four members which was instructed to take the matter up with James II. Thompson of Prince Rupert, Llndley urease of Victoria and lion R. II. Pooley, attorney-general, seeking information as to why the appointment was rescinded. It will also be requested that all correspondence In connection with the matter be made public. , One of the speakers at the declared that it was a disgrace to the province that a grand old- man of the Conservative party should have been given the treat ment that was accorded Mr. Davey, Another speaker asserted that Mr, Davey had always been fair and although a loyal supporter of the Conservative party, had had no axe to grind. Bartlett, Arctic explorer, has re turned from his seventh cruise into the far north In his sturdy schooner Morrissey, bringing with him collections of flora and fauna for the American Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian Institute. He says that the ice conditions this year on the east Oreenland coast were the worst In. the Mor- rlssey's career.
