WRIGLEYS CHEWING GUM MOVE NOT WISE ONE Interior News Comments on Reduction of Forest Fire Fighters' Pay It is to bo sincerely hoped that the reported reduction of fire fighters' wages from 25 cents to 15 cents per hour will turn out to be nothing more than a report. Under normal circumstances there will be forest fires this summer: with reduced staffs It is reasonable to expect Just that many more. To cut this service and slam on a 40 wage reduc tlon Is a slap at the men who will be called out to fight the fires, and it will defeat itself for the reason that fire fighters simply will not respond enthusiastically on a wage that borders on starvation.
