June 24: Motherln-. four puppy dogs la the self-appointed job of' an elderly cat owned by Mrs. P. L. McLaren of this city. The pups are the sons of Highborn Billy Boy and Twislld Tinker, both of Impeccable antecedents In the aristocracy of dogdom. About ihe sa.ae nine that they came into the world, Maggie, the cat, gave birth to four kittens, of more doubtful ancestry. When the mother dog, Tinker, died following an operation. Mrs. McLaren had four motherless pups on her hands and also Maggie and her brood. The pups were worth a good deal of money. Mrs. McLaren was bewildered, but Maggie settled the problem for her by volunteering as the foster mother of the tiny dogs. .Mi-a. McLaren has gradually disposed of the kittens but she ha -been able to keep the puppies, ithanks to Maggie. The cat, as a I matter of fact, showed marked pre-iference for the pups since the be ginning. During the kittens' adolescence, Maggie used to push them aside In favor of the pups.
