On August 29th last, after a Li? day there was $300 in the box. During the night it was stolen. There were no broken doors or windows. It looked like an inside job. Suspicion fell on John Schultz a clerk who had lately been taken on and he was arreoted. A large sum of money was fjund in his room. He said it was his savings but things looked dark for him. The agreement provides, among principal features, for the installation of a radiotelephone station by the Northwest Telephone Co. at a point In or near the city to which the mu nicipal telephone system will be con nected, the entire expense of the installation, including such extensions to the city system as may be necessary, being borne by the company. Under the agreement, the city will act as commercial agent for the company in handling of messages. It is proposed that the agreement 'shall take effect on December 31, 1931, and continue In force for a period of ten years. There was a little by-play between Aid. Pillsbury and City Solicitor Jones after a report had been made by the latter regarding the agreement between the city and the tele phone company. Aid. I'lllsbury questioned the opinion of the soli citor that It was necessary or ad visahlc under the Municipal Act that the proposed agreement should be approved by the After some discussion, In which there was a direct clash of opinion between Aid. Pillsbury and Mr. Jones, other members of the coun cil expressed the opinion that the city solicitor was employed to give his legal opinions and that it was advisable to accept them. The re port on this matter from Mr. Jones was then adopted without dissenting vote. In the course of his report, Mr. Jones advised the council that it had the authority to execute the agreement without recourse to a vote of the ratepayers. Tony Christian to Put In Excavation The city council, on recommendation of the Board of Works, gave permission last night to Tory Christian to excavate under the sidewalk allowance In front of his property at the northeast comer of Third Avenue and Marketplace.
