DAILY EDITION, Thursday, Dec. Twentieth Century Belongs to Rupert. An export Journal recently quoted the late Sir Wilfrid Laurier when he said that the Twentieth Century belonged to Canada. The same journal says that the Twentieth Century be- longs to the Pacific. We would like to add to both of these that the Twentieth Century belongs to Prince Rupert. No one likes to be a booster, but it is good to look at the facts and face them squarely. If this is done it will be sten that there is one port that is bound to develop fast and that is Prince Rupert. From present prospects there is no place for a port between this place and Vancouver, neither is there likely to be a great transcontinental shipping port to the north of this because we are very near the Alaskan boundary. Everything points to the fact that the Twentieth Century be- longs to Prince Rupert. Power of Trustee Chairman Discussed. In Victoria they are having a hot argument over the right of the chairman of a board of school trustees to vote on the appointment of teachers or other matters where a ballot is neces- sary. The school law says that a chairman sholl not vote except in case of a tie. In the past whenever an appointment has been made the chairman has voted along with the others. Exception has been taken to this and Mrs. Trustee Andrews, whose husband is one of the teachers in the high schooi, threatens to bring an injunction against the chairman of the board to prevent him balloting when teachers are being chosen. Well in Lead in : Halibut Fishing. Figures just published in regard to the halibut catch for October on this coast indicate that Prince Rupert is keeping her lead in the business. Her shipments were almost equal to all other north Pacific ports combined. The following is the detail: . A few days ago the Daily News published an article on In- dustrial Councils in the form of a report of a lecture delivered by Lieut. Clearihue. The speaker advocated reguiar meetings between employers and employees for the discussion of matters of interest to both of them. It seems that the sysiem has been in vogue in some places for a number of years and has worked most successfully, espec- ially in the way of ereating a better understanding between em- pluyers and employees. Anything which brings employers and employees together and gives an opportunity of discussing grievances makes for a better understanding. Often grievances are imaginery or they may be easily remedied. If industrial councils can help matters, it would be a good thing to have them. 2_—-. NOTE THIS RPSUSTARLS WEIGHT IFFERENT makes of records require different weights. If the weight is not exactly right the tone is inferior and the record will very likely be damaged. This is one of the reasons behind the inven- tion of the Brunswick Ultona, illustrated above, which by a mere twist of the wrist, is instantly adjusted to all makes of records. The adjustable weight balance in the ‘Tone Arm gives exactly the right weight required by every make of record. Consequently, with the Brunswick Ultona all makes of record are played eorrectly and without, possibility of injury to any make of record, No other instrument possesses this invention. It is a Brunswick feature, pure and simple. It alone protects you from damaged records, and makes the Brunswick the only “Universal” phono- graph which plays ALL records CORRECTLY. * Call and see this feature for yourself. Hear the superior tone quality it gives. Come— let your ears be the judge! McRae Bros., Lid.
