L. Dass. for burial which took place this after noon. Many friends In the city as well as throughout, the district will learn with keen regret of the late Mr. Thompson's passing. He had been 111 for several months and went to Vancouver about three months ago for treatment returning north however, with little relief. Ills condition became gradually worse un til his passing. A few weeks ago of ficers aboard a steamer plying to the Queen Charlotte Islands noted that Mr. Thompson was not down to. the boat. It was realized thee that he must be getting very ill for. day or night, he had never in years missed meeting a boat when he was at home. Sixty-one years of age and born In Hants County, Nova Scotia, thr late Mr. Thompson came west in 1892. Being a prospector and miner the next six years or so found hlrr, in the Kootenay camps such ar Sandon, SUverton, Kaslo. Lardcau and Trout Lake. He was attracted to the Yukon during the Gold Rush and, after a few years in the Klon- dyke, he returned to British Co lumbia. It was mining that brought him to Jedway where he since madf his home. At the time of his death he held promising claims there. The late Mr. Thompson is sur vived by his widow, who came over from the islands yesterday with thf body. There are two brothers W. J Thompson of Calgary and SUa Thompson, who still lives on the old homestead in Hants County Two married sisters live on the prairies. James H. Thompson of this city is a cousin of deceased. They were born on adjoining homesteads and lived there as boys. (The funeral took place this afternoon with Rev. Alfred Wilson of First United Church officiating. After a service In the chapel of the B. C. Undertakers, where Miss M. A. Way presided at the organ, in terment was made in Falrview Ce metery. Pallbearers, all of whom were friends of deceased during his. life, were J. A. Klrkpatrlck, J. M Campbell, George A. Woodland. J. ?red Ritchie. R. L. Mcintosh and James 11. Thompson. The first advised the IJoard to recommend to the Terrace commissioners that tenders be called for on all contract works undertaken by the commissioners and that a fair wage clause be Inserted In each and every contract. The secretary pointed out that the commissioners would-hardly be likely to turn over to contractors all work In the municipality and! the fair wage clause was already provided for by the statute under which the village was incorpor ated. On the motion of Mr. Kennev seconded by Mr. Hepburn the resolution was ordered filed. The second resolution was ac cepted on the motion of Mr. Tur-i ner. seconded by Mr. Riley. It asked the council to refer the question of establishing a one-day-1 a-week market for the sale of farm nroduce to the agriculture committe and the Farmers' Institute for a joint report. A resolution on unemployment In surance was tabled for consldera-Mon at the next meeting. The last resolution recommended to the Board stated that "whereas consuming power largely depends on earning power of the individual the maintenance of wages at the highest possible point Is essential In order to maintain consumption and production.
