faob foot ESKIMOS Old Country Soccer LANDIS IS NOW LEAD ' Seattle Defeats Portland 1-0 and Goes to Top of Pacific, Coast Hockey League SEATTLE, Feb. 14: A single goal by Jack Walker in the third period enabled Seattle Eskimos to defeat Portland Buckaroos in a hard and fast fought Pacific Coast Hockey League game here last night, the Eskimos thus going into the league leadership with a margin of a single point over the Vancouver Lions. The Eskimos have 28 points, the Lions 27, and the Buckaroos 24. The referees went into conference with the captain of the Seattle team before the start of the game and the first period was exceptionally free of unnecessary roughness. In the second period, however, some roughness developed and several penalties were handed out. After scoring, the Eskimos spent the hitter part of the third period stalling and engaging In defensive play. The Buckaroos tried valiantly until the last second but were unable to tie it up.
